Massive Overlay Potential at WPT Global Summer Festival

The $220 Main Event has a $500,000 guarantee and with just three of its 30 starting flights remaining, it is still almost $150,000 short of hitting its target.

It requires over 730 entries in order to avoid an overlay and unless the last three starting days are significantly busier than the recent ones on Friday night and Saturday morning (which had fewer than 150 entries combined) the guarantee could be missed by some distance.

The $3,500 World Poker Tour Championship is in an even stickier spot and although it requires only 300 players to meet the $1m guarantee, with just three out of eleven starting flights to go, it has so far had less than 150 entries. 

The late afternoon flight on the penultimate day of the festival had just ten players registered by the end of level eight, with 18 levels for late registration.

Of course it’s very likely that the remaining starting days for both of these headline tournaments will be busier than the flights that have taken place so far, but significant overlays look like a very distinct possibility.

These are the remaining starting days for the $220 Main Event. Each starting day plays until 18% of the field remain. Late registration is open for 16 levels.

Play resumes for the second and final day at 11.00 (ET). 

The tournament format is progressive knock out, with $100 of the buy-in going to the prize pool and $100 is the bounty element.

There are also three starting days remaining for the $3,500 WPT Championship. Each of these starting days progresses 20% of its field into day 2. Late registration is open for 18 levels.
