UK Circuit Regular Yucel 'Mad Turk' Eminoglu Takes Chip Lead Into Final Day of $1,000 Super Seniors at WSOP

Yucel ‘Mad Turk’ Eminoglu is one of the most familiar faces on the UK poker circuit, where he has been a regular for almost twenty-years. He’s an energetic player who livens up any table he plays on, usually in his favour.

He’s been one of the most consistent players on the Grosvenor UK Poker Tour, making the money in four of the six £1,250 Main Events that have taken place in 2024 so far.

Although he is yet to win a GUKPT Main Event, he has gone close on a few occasions, with his best finish being his runner-up spot in the 2021 Grand Final, where he cashed for £183,650, also his lifetime best live cash

Yucel’s nickname might sound demeaning, but it is a long-standing one that he is comfortable with, from time-to-time fulfilling the stereotype that it suggests, ranting loudly about bad beats and such like.

Today he goes into the final day of the $1,000 Super Seniors NLH at The Horseshoe Casino in Las Vegas, aiming for his first ever World Series of Poker bracelet and what would be a lifetime best $385,025 first prize.

Eminoglu takes a massive lead into the final day, having amassed almost 16m chips, more than double that of his nearest challenger, Buck Bucceri on 7.7m. Gary Fisher, another GUKPT regular is also still in the mix, in 4th place on just under 5m chips.

The World Cheers on the Mad Turk

While much of the poker world will be fixated on whether Daniel Negreanu can pick up his 7th WSOP bracelet in the $50,000 Players Championship, the Super Seniors will be of greater interest today for many players in the UK and Turkey, to see whether Yucel ends up mad or gets even (or to be more accurate, a lot better off than even)?
