  • GGPoker's Ocean KO combines PKO format with random jackpot multipliers up to 400x.
  • Massive early participation and prize pools show strong player interest.
  • Ocean KO's instant volatility and visible bounties set it apart from Mystery Bounties.
This beast from the deep comes with jackpot PKO multipliers.
GGPoker has launched Ocean KO, a new tournament format that mashes together the best bits of Progressive Knockouts and lottery-style poker games.

The basic idea is beautifully simple. Every player starts with a bounty, just like in a regular PKO. Knock someone out and you still get half the bounty in cash, with the other half added to your scalp bounty.

But then you spin the wheel.

That bounty can suddenly be worth anything from 0.4x to 400x, turning a routine first-hand knockout into a potential massive payday.

But as we know, oceans are full of legendary monsters, and so is the Ocean KO. There is a Legendary Jackpot tier that can pay more than $1 million!

Welcome to the shocking world of Jackpot PKOs.

What Is GGPoker Ocean KO?

Ocean KO is GGPoker's version of the Jackpot PKO (JPKO) format, combining Progressive Knockout mechanics with the random multipliers found in Spin & Go-style games.

The formula looks like this:
FeatureStandard PKOOcean KO
Starting bountyYesYes
Bounty active from hand 1YesYes
KO rewardFixedRandom multiplier
Cash portion50%50%
Bounty growth50%50% of random reward
Maximum multiplierFixed bounty400x (+ Legendary X multiplier)
Big payout possible earlyLimitedYes
The jackpot can happen at any point. You don't have to survive until the money bubble like in a Mystery Bounty tournament. If you knock somebody out on the first hand and hit a monster multiplier, congratulations, you may have just changed the entire tournament.

GGPoker Ocean KO Goes Up To 400x (or Even Higher)

The Ocean KO pay table is considerably more aggressive than the versions previously seen at Winamax and Betclic.

For a $5 starting bounty:
MultiplierBounty ValueCash Won
400x$2,000$1,000
100x$500$250
10x$50$25
2x$10$5
1.5x$7.50$3.75
1x$5$2.50
0.7x$3.50$1.75
0.5x$2.50$1.25
0.4x$2$1
The average multiplier is exactly 1x, so the randomization does not theoretically change the value of the bounty.

It does, however, make the ride considerably more violent.

Almost three quarters of knockouts pay less than face value, while a 10x or larger hit is much more unusual.

The 400x multiplier is the monster hiding under the bed, appearing roughly once every 50,000 bounties at the lowest tier.

But 400x isn't the end of the Ocean KO food chain.

Enter the Legendary Beasts

Players can climb through the Ocean KO levels as their progressive bounty increases.

The first 10 levels are scaled to the tournament buy-in, from Egg through Shark.

Then things get properly silly.
LevelTierBounty ThresholdMultiplier Range
$11Legendary Octopus$10,0000.5x to 10x
$12Legendary Dolphin$50,0000.6x to 3x
$13Legendary Whale$250,0000.7x to 2x
14Legendary Shark$1,000,0000.8x to 1.5x
The higher the bounty gets, the flatter the multiplier range becomes.

That's deliberate, as GGPoker narrows the variance at the upper levels when the underlying bounties are already getting enormous.

And that is where the seven-figure Super Jackpot territory comes into play.

The ocean gets considerably deeper once you start hunting Legendary Sharks.

Ocean KO Is Already Washing Up Big Numbers

GGPoker launched Ocean KO during the Bounty Hunters Series, and the first three Sunday events on October 4 carried a combined $1 million in guarantees. They comfortably smashed them.

$100$400K$5,926$545,192
$1,000$400K$692$657,400
And it isn't just the bigger buy-ins getting attention.

The $5 Ocean KO Opener has already pulled 6,287 entries, with a $1,000,000 estimated prize pool and more than $486,000 in bounty prizes. For a brand-new format at a $5 buy-in, those are some pretty serious numbers.

Is Ocean KO Better Than Mystery Bounty?

Mystery Bounties generally keep their random rewards locked away until players reach the money. Ocean KO puts the volatility on the table from the first hand.

You can see everyone's bounty, and those bounties can develop wildly different values as the tournament progresses.

That creates actual strategic differences between players. Knocking out the guy with a tiny bounty is one thing. Taking a flip against the player carrying a $770 bounty is something else entirely.

In a regular PKO, bounty differentials become increasingly important as the tournament progresses.

Ocean KO basically throws that dynamic into the tournament from the start.

Where Did Ocean KO Come From?

GGPoker is not the first operator to discover the format.

Winamax launched Space KO in December 2024, and the format quickly became one of its biggest tournament attractions.

Betclic later introduced its own version, called Smash KO, in March 2026.

GGPoker's Ocean KO is the first major international rollout, taking the concept outside the ring-fenced French and Spanish markets where the earlier versions were available.

And GGPoker has turned the variance knob all the way to overdrive.

Winamax's Space KO tops out at 100x, Betclic's Smash KO at 50x, while Ocean KO goes all the way to 400x.

Is Ocean KO The Next Big Poker Format?

It certainly has the ingredients.

It is easy to understand, works with familiar PKO mechanics and gives recreational players the dream of landing a ridiculous bounty at any point.

At the same time, the changing bounty values create strategic decisions that simply don't exist in a normal Mystery Bounty.

The obvious downside is variance.

You are taking the already savage swings of MTT poker and bolting a random bounty wheel onto half of the prize pool.

GGPoker's version is also particularly top-heavy, with more emphasis on huge multipliers than the earlier Space KO and Smash KO formats.

Still, the early numbers are difficult to ignore.

Ocean KO looks less like another gimmick and more like the next serious evolution of the PKO format.

And knowing poker operators, GGPoker probably won't be the last room to spin the jackpot PKO wheel.

GGPoker's Ocean KO FAQ

  • What Is GGPoker Ocean KO?

GGPoker Ocean KO is a Jackpot PKO tournament format that combines Progressive Knockout poker with random bounty multipliers. Players receive an automatic bounty spin when they knock out an opponent, with standard Ocean KO tiers offering multipliers from 0.4x to 400x.

  • How Does GGPoker Ocean KO Work?

Ocean KO uses a 50/50 bounty split. When you knock out an opponent, the random bounty prize is split equally, with 50% paid immediately in cash and 50% added to your own progressive bounty. Your bounty can then grow through further knockouts and push you into higher Ocean KO tiers.

  • What Is the Maximum Ocean KO Multiplier?

The standard Ocean KO tiers have a maximum multiplier of 400x. At the lowest Egg tier, a $5 bounty can therefore produce a $2,000 bounty prize, with $1,000 paid in cash and $1,000 added to the winner's bounty.

  • Can GGPoker Ocean KO Pay More Than 400x?

Yes, in terms of the potential payout. The standard tiers go up to 400x, but Ocean KO also has four Legendary levels with much larger bounty values. The Legendary Shark tier starts at a $1 million bounty and uses a 0.8x to 1.5x multiplier, creating the potential for a $1.5 million bounty prize.

  • What Are the GGPoker Ocean KO Legendary Levels?

Ocean KO has four Legendary levels: Legendary Octopus at $10,000, Legendary Dolphin at $50,000, Legendary Whale at $250,000 and Legendary Shark at $1 million. The multiplier range becomes narrower at each level because the underlying bounty values are already enormous.
