Bryn Kenney Wins WSOP Online Bracelet

At the start of August, GGPoker’s parent company NSUS announced that they are in the process of acquiring the WSOP brand from Caesars Entertainment for a price of $500m. 

Soon after this a WSOP Paradise promotion was launched to support the $50m guarantee that has been stamped onto the $25,000 Super Main Event. And just a few weeks later, the 2024 edition of the WSOP Online has begun on GGPoker.

The online series features 33 bracelet events and has a $4m in added prizes for country/continental freerolls, to support the series. 

As has become the usual format for this kind of series, the Main Event and a few other bracelet events are being run as phase events, with multiple starting days before the second day of the event takes place. The rest of the bracelet events have just one starting day, but most still take more than one day to be completed.

Phase events began in early August, however the series properly got underway on August 18th and will continue until the end of September.

The first three bracelets have now been awarded, with a further 30 yet to find their owners. In addition to Bryn Kenney’s first online bracelet win, the first two phase events have also now reached their conclusion. 

This was the first of the phase events to take place and has had starting flights running since soon after the series was announced at the beginning of August. In total 3,369 players entered across all its starting days, generating a $1.6m prize pool. It was won by the player with the username ‘Lemonw’ whose real name has not yet been released.

The second tournament on the bracelet event schedule was another phase event which has had Day 1s running for a few weeks. With a $300 buy-in it is one of the most accessible bracelet events on the schedule and one of the busiest, with 11,630 players entering.

The prize pool for the event well surpassed its $2.5m guarantee, ending up at just under $3.25m. It was won by R Cekalins for a payday of over $400k.

There are four more bracelet events taking place this week, one of which is a phase event. The phase is event #7 the $215 Mystery Bounty, which has a $10m guaranteed prize pool. There are up to twelve starting flights per day for this and all who make it through will reconvene on Monday 26 August to fight it out for the prize money and bounties, of a mysterious nature.
