Which Players To Pick For Your Team?

There are 120 players to choose from, including most of the famous players that you would expect to see at the Series in Las Vegas this summer. This includes the most decorated player ever, 17 time bracelet winner Phil Hellmuth, 6 time winner Daniel Negreanu and perhaps the most famous Main Event champion of all Chris Moneymaker. The full list of players is available on the ACR website.

Tips on How to Pick Your Fantasy Team

The budget for each team is $300, but don’t worry these are virtual dollars that are only used within the game and it won’t cost you this much to pick your team. The cost to enter is either $20, $100 or $500, depending on which buy-in tier you choose. It’s possible to enter teams in different tiers, but you’ll have to pay for each entry separately.

Each of the 120 players to choose from has been allocated a value, ranging from as little as $3 to as much as $112. The most expensive players on the list are:

Shuan Deeb ($112), Daniel Negreanu ($111) and Dan Zak ($109) are the picks that will hurt your virtual wallet, while at the other end of the scale Patrik Antonius, Chris Moneymaker and Allen Kessler are all $3 picks.

The cost of assembling your dream team cannot exceed $300, so you can only have one or perhaps two of the more expensive players on your team. As a guide, the average cost per player to stay within budget should be $37.5, so use this as a benchmark and and pick a few that are above average cost and a few that are below average cost to balance the strength and cost of your team.

Some players may seem cheap, but this is probably because they are not expected to play in many events. For example, while Patrik Antonius is clearly one of the most capable players in the world, he is mostly a cash game players and may only enter a handful of tournaments during the series, hence his lowly $3 cost to include in your team. He might seem like a good pick but, he’s probably not going to turn up often enough to be an interesting pick.

Players who favour mixed game formats and super high roller events may be good value to include in your team, as they will be playing a lot of events that have smaller fields, therefore giving them a greater chance of cashing or making final tables.

Overall, you want a balanced team that will play as often as possible. A huge part of the fun of taking part in ACR's Fantasy League Poker: Vegas is being able to follow the action throughout the summer, so you want players who will be entering as many competitions as possible, so that you have something interesting to follow each day, as the competition progresses.
