WPT Global launches first KO Series

Online poker site WPT Global is hosting its first ever KO series, starting on February 23 and running until March 3, 2024. The ten day festival has a total $2m guaranteed across its tournament schedule, with the headliner being the $220 main event which is assured to have at least a $250,000 prize pool.

All tournaments will be bounty events, but there will be a mix of regular bounty formats and progressive knock outs and buy-ins for the festival start from as low as $5.50.

Several tournaments will take place on weekdays, with the action cranking up a notch or two on Sundays. The traditional busiest day of the week, of which there are two during this series will be when the key events take place.

Additionally, the regular Sunday Slam tournaments will convert to KO tournaments while the festival is running.

Leaderboard

The leaderboard for the KO Series doesn’t care how many events you won, how many final tables you made or how often you scraped your way to a min-cash. The only metric that matters for the leaderboard is how many players you managed to bust.

WPT Global will be keeping tabs on how many opponents you send to the felt, across the entire series. You get one point for every player you eliminate and what do prizes make? Prizes of course and these will be awarded to the top 200 players on the leaderboard, with the top knocker-outer scooping a $12,400 tournament ticket package for WPT Global’s Spring Festival.

Player of the Year

All tournaments in the KO series also count towards the 2024 WPT Global Player of the Year award. This is the first time that this annual promotion has been run, with a total of $250,000 in prizes and a very cool $100,000 prize to the player who goes on to become the inaugural champion. The top prize includes no less than four passports to main events on the WPT Tour.
