The 2023 WPT World Championship is all set to get underway with the first of four starting days taking place on Tuesday 12th at Wynn, Las Vegas. The $40m guaranteed tournament looks set to be a Xmas Cracker once again, attracting many of the world’s top poker players.

The WPT Prime Championship warm-up act smashed through the 10,000-player barrier, creating a prize pool of more than double the $5m guarantee. The 10,512 entries destroyed the WPT record for a $1k buy-in event, with almost double the participation level of the 2022 edition.

The overall prize pool reached $10,196,640 with the winner set to take home an extremely cool $1,386,280!

Party Time!

But before play gets underway there was the small matter of the WPT Players party to get through. This was actually no small matter at all, as the pre-event celebration took place at Area 15, a fun and intriguing venue with a host of immersive and interactive elements.

Guests, including WPT Global online package winners, were first entertained in a room with state of the art arcade gaming and virtual reality headset attractions.

Then the party moved on to the venue’s main party room with glitter bunnies and acrobats doing their thing while DJs Fergie, Sub Zero, Max Styler and LEFIH spun discs.

WPT CEO Adam Pliska (joined on stage by Vince Van Patten, Matt Savage, Tony Dunst, Lynn Gilmartin, Brad Owen and Andrew Neeme) welcomed players to the event on the eve of Day 1a.
