Yakiv Syzghanov wins WPT Prime Aix-en-Provence for €133,400

The first WPT Prime champion of 2024 was crowned on Monday evening at Pasino Grand in the South of France.

It was Yakiv Syzghanov who was victorious in the second installment of WPT Prime Aix-en-Provence.

The Ukraine native claimed the first-place prize of €133,400, which includes a $10,400 seat in the upcoming 2024 WPT World Championship at Wynn Las Vegas.

"Today, for me, was very important. It is unbelievable, an amazing feeling. A dream come true, 100%," he said following his victory.

"Thank you, all people thank, you, because it was very hard. I played six days in a row, twelve hours. I busted in all flights… I try, try try, and go into turbo, and you see I win.”

The €1,100 buy-in Prime Championship event ran from February 1-5 with a total of four starting flights. 

By the end of all Day 1s, the field stood at 758 entrants, a 40% increase from last year’s event. The sum generated a prize pool of €727,680 and the top 96 finishers earned a share of the prize money.

Falling just short of the WPT Prime Aix-en-Provence winner’s enclosure was Laurent Michot, who finished second for €82,000.

The 2023 WPT Scramble Champion, Frederic Normand, made a deep run to finish in third place and take home €40,700), while rounding out the official final table was Dylan Cechowski (4th place – €45,000), David Sacksick (5th place – €34,000) and Andrea Volpi (6th place – €26,000).

The next Prime Tour stop of WPT Season XXII is the WPT Prime Amsterdam festival, which runs March 15-23. The highlight of the festival will be the €1,100 buy-in Prime Championship (March 17-22). Other events include a €565 Opener, €1,100 PLO and €2,200 High Roller.
