Poker-SM 2026 was played this year for the first time in an open-to-all format, inviting the international community to challenge the Swedish poker elite for that legendary Tre Kronor Swedish Crown. The tournament was played under the name Banco Championship at Banco Casino Bratislava, and the €250K guaranteed challenge drew 486 players.

The champion title still remained in the hands of the Swedes when one of their most respected poker players Lars Christer Johansson had a run of a lifetime. He not only conquered the Banco Championship but also multiple other tournaments, earning him a plaque in Sweden’s Poker Hall of Fame.

Winner Lars Christer Johansson Dominates in Bratislava, Gets Crowned in Sweden’s Hall of Fame

A spot in the Hall of Fame is an honorable title that is usually given when there is no doubt who is one of the GOATs. In Poker-SM 2026 Bratislava, that was Swedish poker veteran Lars Christer Johansson, and the title dropped after he managed to beat the field in the Banco Championship, Sviten Special Championship, and 8-Game Mix. Other notable results were 4th place in T.O.R.S.E.S and two wins in padel against Poker-SM director Mauritz Altikardes.
