Mathias Guimarães secured a major victory in SiGMA Poker Tour Main Event, overcoming a field of 452 players to claim the R$205,000 top prize. He defeated Argentina's Brian Ganon in a tense heads-up battle.
The SiGMA Poker Tour concluded with a display of high-stakes skill as a massive field of 452 players was narrowed down to one champion. Mathias Guimarães emerged victorious after a grueling Day 3, taking home the lion's share of the prize pool with a massive R$205,000 payout.
The final nine players represented a mix of seasoned talent, primarily from Brazil, with Argentina providing the toughest competition in the final stages.
Road to the Championship: Final Table Action
The final table began with Argentina's Brian Ganon holding the chip lead, closely followed by Helton Richard. The early levels saw rapid movement, with Rodrigo Bueno becoming the first casualty of the day in ninth place.
Diego Coutinho, who entered the session as the short-stack, provided a highlight-reel moment by securing an early triple-up to keep his hopes alive. However, his run ended in seventh place when he was knocked out by Guimarães.
The middle of the final table was dominated by Ganon, who went on a significant tear. After eliminating Munir Berno in eighth place, Ganon continued his aggressive streak by knocking out both Julio Santista and Silvio Weyne.
The momentum shifted back to Guimarães when he eliminated Helton Richard in third place. This set up a classic cross-border heads-up battle between Guimarães and Ganon, the lone non-Brazilian at the table. Ultimately, Guimarães proved too strong, securing the win and the R$205,000 prize.
