While February was a relatively quiet one for poker in Ireland, March sees the blinds being raised once again on the Emerald Isle. The month gets going with the Dublin Poker Festival, featuring a €570 main event. The Irish Poker Tour has an event in Cork as well as the special €100 for €100,000 St Patrick’s Day event in Dublin.

The most eagerly awaited event of the year in Ireland is the Irish Open, which traditionally takes place over the Easter Weekend. The festival runs from 25th March - 1st April, with the €1,150 main event from 27th March - 1st April.

March is a busy month, with three events in the middle of the month. The Mixed Game Championship runs from 11th - 15th March featuring a €400 buy-in 8-Game main event. The Poker North Masters has a €350 main event, as does the Novibet Euro Poker Championship.

Rozvadov close to the German border is a small village with a massive casino owned by Leon Tsoukernik. Kings Casino is famously Europe’s largest poker venue with over 200 tables. It hosts the WSOPE each year and has festivals running most of the year. In March the Eureka Poker Tour (silly name, whoever thought that one up is a muppet)* visits Rozvadov with a €1m guaranteed main event featuring six starting days.

There are no major events in France in March, but there are a lot of small poker events taking place all over the country, which has the highest number of casinos of any country in Europe. One highlight of the month that stands out is the Unibet Deepstack Open in Aix-en-Provence.

The Deepstack Series is one of Europe’s most established tours, owned and managed by Alex Henry and takes place several times a year, mostly in France, but also in other European countries, such as Malta.

Satellite options for Unibet Deepstack Open events are available on Unibet Poker.

Neither of them are hosting events in March, but there are two other events taking place this month. Both are events targeting Italian players and several such events take place here every year. The Italian Poker Open festival is already underway and continues until March 5th, while Planet Poker’s festival runs from 20th-24th of the month. Both festivals feature main events with a €550 buy-in.

After a relatively quiet February, there are a lot more live poker festivals scheduled in March in the Americas. Several WSOPC festivals are running, there’s two RUNGOOD festivals and the the rooms are also pretty busy in Las Vegas. There’s also more live poker action in Brazil this month with two events taking place in Sao Paulo. Let’s take a closer look at what’s on where.

Las Vegas

Both the Venetian and the Wynn have had festivals running since mid February and these continue well into March. In fact, the Venetian’s Deepstack Showdown festival does not end until the last day of March, while the Wynn Millions draws to a close one week earlier, ending on March 24th.

The PokerGo studio at Aria is set to be very busy in March, with both a mixed games festival and a PLO series taking place. In the final party of the month there is also WSOPC Las Vegas, which gets going from the 21st, at the Horseshoe Casino.

Elsewhere in th USA

In addition to the WSOPC Las Vegas festival, there are three further WSOPCs taking place in other parts of the USA. The first of these is WSOIPC Hammond, near Chicago and is already in play, with the $1,700 main event scheduled to start on 7th March.

As that festival is drawing to a close, WSOPC Tulsa in Oklahoma will just be getting started, running from March 7th until the 18th, with its main event scheduled for the last five days of the programme. The third WSOPC of the month is being held in Verona, New York.

There are also two RUNGOOD Poker Series events in March, starting with Tunica, Mississippi, which is already up and running good, with its $600 main event set to take place from 1-3 March. Later in the month another RUNGOOD festival takes place in Jacksonville, Florida, but the main event of this one is $1,200.

For those looking for an event with a more affordable buy-in, Doug Polk’s The Lodge in Round Rock Texas is holding a $200 buy-in event with multiple starting days called the Mini Monster! It boasts a $400,000 guarantee. Maybe Tesla will be there for some fun cash games too.

Asia

March looks set to be a really busy month for poker in Asia, with three major festivals taking place. It kicks off with APT Taipei at the start of the month. The Triton Poker Series lands in Jeju, South Korea for a super high roller series that has a $100,000 buy-in main event. Bit too cheap for me, otherwise i’m there. Once the Triton event has been completed, the same venue Shinwha Resort, hosts WPT Korea.

Africa

The Sunbet Poker Tour by Monster Jam is another festival that straddles both February and March. It takes place in Pretoria, South Africa with its ZAR 15,000 main event running from 6th - 10th March.

Australia

The Aussie Millions is sorely missed by the international poker community and although there is a rumour floating around that the iconic event might be returning to Melbourne at some point, its certainly not happening in March 2024.

One event that is taking place this month is the Australian Poker Open in Sydney. The A$1,150 main event doesn’t actually start until the 4th of April, but the festival gets underway from March 27th.
