GG Poker World Festival Continues This Weekend

GG Poker World Poker Festival Schedule Highlights for Sunday May 26th

GG Poker’s $250m guaranteed World Poker Festival has been running for almost three weeks and is now past the half way point. Over 800 tournaments have already taken place and there are almost as many still left on the schedule.

The biggest events are always at the weekend and this Sunday, May 26, there are another 72 events scheduled, which will pay out over $26m by the time the day is over.

Phase Events at the GG Poker World Festival

This weekend’s phase tournaments are all super high roller events, with $1,500 buy-ins, including the GG World Championship event, which has its day 2 on Monday 27th. That event has a $10m guarantee and there are Day 1s running for it throughout the weekend.

Phase tournaments at GG Poker have multiple starting stages in the days leading up to the final stage. Players can enter the starting stages as often as they like until they make it through to the final stage.

World Festival Schedule for Sunday 26th May

As per every Sunday at the GG Poker World Festival, the $54 Bounty Hunters Main Event, with a $1m guaranteed prize pool is one of the highlights. However there are so many events at a variety of different buy-in levels that there should be something to suit most people.

Key events to look out for on Sunday 26th May in each of the four buy-in tiers are:

Super Tier

As the phase tournaments are all Super Tier events this weekend, there are fewer big guarantee events on the regular festival schedule this Sunday. However the $25,00 Sunday Super High Roller with a $1m guarantee at 19.00 (UTC) is the pick of the events for the big spenders out there.

High Tier

There are two events this Sunday in the High Tier that have guarantees of $1m or more. These are the $525 Bounty Hunters HR Main Event at 16.30 (UTC) with a $1.5m assured prize pool and the $1.050 GG Masters High Rollers World Festival with $1m, which starts 30 minutes later. If these are within your price range you coiuld even play both of them at the same time.

Medium Tier

The $54 Bounty Hunters Sunday Main Event with its $1m guarantee is the pick of the bunch in the Medium Tier.

Low Tier

Low rollers have plenty of options, with the biggest guarantees in the bottom tier being the $15 Sunday Hundred Grand, which defies its own name by edging the guarantee up to $125,000. This starts at 18.00 (UTC) and one hour later the Sunday Mini Main Event with a $25 buy-in also has the same guarantee.

World Festival Leaderboard Updates

The World Festival leaderboards have a total of C$2.5m in prizes to distribute to the best performers in each tier throughout the series. The prize money allocated to each tier is as follows:

Low Tier - C$250,000
Medium Tier - C$500,000
High Tier - C$750,000
Super Tier - C$1m

There has been no change at the top of the Super Tier leaderboard this week, as R Romanovskyi from Ukraine still leads the way with Niklas Astedt from Sweden still in second place. His lead has been extended further since last week and there is now a gap of over 350 points between them. Two victories on Monday night helped Romanovskyi extend his lead.

Canadian David Peters also had a very good week, booking two wins and two second place finishes has climbed up from 4th to 3rd place. Austrian Bert ‘grirafganger7’ Stevens has jumped two places and now sits in 6th position on the leaderboard, having also booked two wins and taken one runner up spot.

While a significant lead is developing in the Super Tier, the races are tightening up in all the other tiers. In the High tier Jacopo Olivieri still leads the way, but is less than 50 points in front of second placed AyrtonSenn@, with R Romanovskyi who leads the Super also in the running in the high tier, in 15th place.

In the Medium Tier, Dutch player Bowrot- holds a slender 22 point lead over Polish SzwarnyChlapiec in the race for the C$40,000 first prize. The Low Tier is led by maruzz from Finland, 82 points in front of Survivor39 from Russia.

There’s still a long way to go in all of these leaderboard races and it would be no surprise to see major shake-ups in the rankings by the time the festival draws to a close.
