  • Two WSOPC festivals took place in February
  • Hamid Izadi won WSOPC Pompani Beach main event for his 7th gold ring
  • Tyler Barnes claims second gold ring winning WSOPC North Carolina
  • More WSOPC events announced including an online WSOP Super Circuit
  • Six Live WSOPC events scheduled for March
There were just two WSOPC events in February, at Pompano Beach in Florida and at Harrah’s Cherokee in North Carolina. Compared with the five WSOPC festivals in January and the five that will take place in March, February was a relatively quiet month.

While the WSOPC might not have been so busy from a playing perspective, from an organisational point of view it has been, with two new live WSOPC events announced, in Toronto and Nottingham.

An online WSOPC festival has also been scheduled, taking place on GG Poker from March 3rd to April 1st, featuring $100m in prize pool guarantees.

All this was in addition to the 55th WSOP summer schedule being revealed, with a record breaking 99 bracelets being awarded at the annual poker behemoth in Las Vegas

WSOPC Pompano Beach Result

Pompano Beach in Florida joined the circuit in 2022 and has hosted two WSOPC festivals per year. The WSOPC Pompano Beach was won by Hamid Izadi, who claimed his 7th career WSOPC gold ring in the process, plus $245,225.

Izadi has been on the live poker circuit for many years, posting his first notable live cash in 2012. This is his biggest live cash to date with over $1.7m in total live tournament winnings. Izadi went on to cash six times in the WSOPC North Carolina later in the month, including a min-cash in the main event.

Main Event Buy-In: $1,700
Main Event Entries: 917
Main Event Guarantee: $1,000,000
Main Event Prize Pool: $1,389,255
Winner: Hamid Izadi
First Prize: $245,225

WSOPC North Carolina Result

Harrah’s Cherokee in North Carolina is a regular stop on the circuit and had been hosting WSOPC festivals since 2013, three or four times a year! There is already another WSOPC North Carolina in the calendar for May and there should be at least one further festival here in the second half of 2024.

The main event had 1,659 entries (the second biggest WSOPC main event ever held at the venue) and was won by Tyler Barnes for $383,856.

This was Tyler Barnes’ second WSOPC gold ring, his first coming in 2022 at the same venue in a $600 No Limit Hold’em event. It is not his first main event victory however, as last October he took down the RUNGOOD Poker Series’ headline event at the Oklahoma stop of the RUNGOOD Poker Series Road Trip.

With close to $400,000 in prize money, this is by far the biggest cash of his short poker career, which only began in 2022.

Main Event Buy-In: $1,700
Main Event Entries: 1,659
Main Event Guarantee: $1,500,000
Main Event Prize Pool: $2,513,385
Winner: Tyler Barnes
First Prize: $383,856

More WSOPC Events Announced

What was already an extremely extensive calendar of festivals has now grown further, as two additional WSOP International Circuit events have been added, in Toronto and Nottingham. These are very late additions as both take place in March.

WSOPC Toronto runs from March 22nd to April 1st at the Great Canadian Casino Resort featuring a C$2,000 main event and a C$3,500 high roller on its tournament schedule.

WSOPC Nottingham takes place at Rob Yong’s Dusk Till Dawn from 15th -25th March. The £1,100 main event includes an online day 1 on March 19th at GG Poker. The online day 1 and satellites to the main event are running for GG Poker customers in the UK.

Players require a GG Poker account to participate and anyone who is yet to register can use the GG Poker bonus code wired to get started with a 100% deposit match worth up to $600.

Online WSOP Super Circuit

Not only were two additional live festivals announced, but the first WSOP Super Circuit Online Series of 2024 at GG Poker was unveiled. Beginning on 3rd March and continuing all month until its final day on April 1st, the series has 18 gold ring events and $100m in guaranteed prize pools.

WSOPC Events in March

While February was a lean month by WSOPC standards, March sees the tour return to form with no less than six WSOPC events taking place globally, including events in Canada, the UK and Brazil as well as the USA.

New events for WSOP 2024 include the $800 Independence Day Celebration tournament and a $10,000 Big Omaha Championship, as well as the $10,000 WSOP Main Event, which last year broke through the 10,000 player barrier for the first time and could go even bigger this year!

Road to Vegas

Details of online qualification via GGPoker’s Road to Vegas satellite promotion have yet to be released but is expected to include a guarantee of 1,000 seats into the WSOP Main Event.
