Cedric Schwaederle is having the run of a lifetime, and the £1,250 Grosvenor UK Poker Tour (GUKPT) London Main Event is his latest conquest. Outlasting a crowded field of 432 runners, the Frenchman navigated his way to the winner's circle to claim £102,880 from a generous £450,180 prize pool, marking his sixth live score in the six-figure range.
A Year of Poker Dominance
If you have been following the live circuit over the last 12 months, Schwaederle’s name should be incredibly familiar. Back in July 2025, he shipped the $5,300 No-Limit Hold'em High Roller in Cyprus for an eye-watering $310,000.
He followed that up in October by taking down the €2,200 EPT Malta Deep Stack for nearly €100K. With a recent 10th-place cash in the EAPT Cyprus Main Event, he came into London carrying serious momentum.
Following the win, the UK poker community flooded social media with praise, with plenty of playful banter congratulating him on "getting the badge in"—a nod to the ubiquitous Stone Island fashion meme popular among British regulars.
The top 56 players earned a piece of the pie. The payout list was a who's-who of regional crushers, including Arthur Conan, Trevor Reardon, Timothy Chung, Dale Wilson, Matthew Davenport, and Joe Hindry.
Grosvenor Ambassador Katie Swift also put on a clinic. Coming into Day 2 with a short stack, she managed an impressive spin-up that brought her to the absolute brink of the final table, ultimately bowing out in 10th place to collect £6,030.
The Final Table Breakdown
The final table kicked off with a brutal beat for Ken Wong. Getting his stack in good on an ace-high flop with ace-queen, he was miles ahead of Jiaze Li's pocket kings. But poker can be a cruel game, and the turn delivered the one remaining king in the deck to send Wong packing in ninth. Li struck again shortly after, using pocket nines to flop a set and eliminate a short-stacked Antoine Labat in eighth.
Tsz To was the next to fall in seventh place, committing his chips on a combo straight-and-flush draw that couldn't crack Schwaederle's already-made nut straight. After the anonymous "C.K." exited in sixth, Li's run finally ended in fifth when his suited king-ten ran into the ace-king of Longmao Fan.
£1,250 Grosvenor UK Poker Tour (GUKPT) London Main Event Spain's Ignacio Amelung recorded his best-ever cash, taking fourth for £29,220 after calling a river jam with top pair, only to be shown a disguised bottom set by Tobias Kirby-Hogarty. Three-handed play concluded when Fan, who was actually the runner-up in this exact event three years ago, ran a massive queen-high bluff on a double-paired board right into Kirby-Hogarty's full house.
Closing It Out
Heads-up play began with Kirby-Hogarty holding a commanding lead, but Schwaederle proved resilient. The defining moment of the match happened when Kirby-Hogarty limped with pocket nines and shoved over Schwaederle's raise. Unfortunately for the Brit, Schwaederle was sitting with pocket kings and snapped him off. The cowboys held, effectively swapping the players' chip positions.
Minutes later, it was all over. Schwaederle opened with pocket eights and called a 16-big-blind three-bet jam from Kirby-Hogarty, who held ace-jack of clubs. A clean nine-high board secured the final pot of the tournament for Schwaederle.
