Online Poker This Weekend - Whats On 8-10 March 2024

If you’re getting ready to put your Omaha armour on and draw your Texas Hold’em sword to battle it out on the online felt, you’ll first need to plan your attack. 

PokerWired’s handy guide can help, with info about the key online poker series, events and promotions taking place at several of the leading online poker sites this weekend. It seems like every week there is something significant going on at many online poker sites and this weekend (March 9-10, 2024) is no exception.

The WSOP Super Circuit, which is now well underway on GG Poker, with $100m in guaranteed prize pools and 18 gold rings to be won stands out as the biggest and more prestigious of the weekend’s online mtt offerings. Other highlights include:

This weekend the focus is on two events, one of which is a mystery bounty phase event and day 1s are already running. Day 1s continue all weekend and day 2 is on Monday. For most players this will be the main focus, with a $210 buy-in and a staggering $5m guaranteed. The biggest mystery bounty prize on offer will be a very cool half a million dollars. 

The other key WSOP Super Circuit event is the $1,050 GG Masters Circuit Championship, which is the main gold ring event on Sunday evening and has $1.5m guaranteed.

The KO Series may now be over on WPT Global, but the overlays certainly aren’t. WPT Global President Alex Scott as good as confirmed that overlays will continue to be a thing in our recent interview. 

In fact the Escalator events they run daily pretty much ensure there will be overlay most of the time in certain tournaments. In these six events, the guarantees almost always miss because they increase them by at least 10% every time they hit the guarantee.

These events aside, there are plenty of tournaments missing their guarantees on the site, with the best value being found on Sundays in their bigger guaranteed events and WPT Passport satellites. 

Last week’s $4,000 package WPT Voyage satellite provided one of the best value hunter opportunities of the weekend. With a $215 buy-in and $23,180 guaranteed, it attracted just 43 entries, creating a staggering overlay of $14,580, representing an overlay of 65%, by far the best value of the week anywhere. 

This amazing overlay value happens pretty every weekend, maybe even every day, as was pointed out by WPT Global ambassador Xuan Liu in a recent tweet.

The other prime overlay suspect this weekend at WPT Global will be the $110 Crazy Sunday PKO, which starts early at 8.30am (UK) as it is aimed at the Asian timezones. It has a $100,000 guarantee and needs 1,000 players to avoid an overlay. Looks very unlikely it will get there.

WPT Global also unveiled a new MTT promotion for March, with 100% of tournament fees being returned to players via three special freerolls. Combined with daily overlays in many tournaments, this makes it an even more attractive offer and reason to choose the site to play tournaments on.

Coinpoker has four high roller tournaments on Sundays and these have recently been confirmed to be here to stay. These include two big buy-in Pot Limit Omaha (PLO) and two high priced No Limit Hold’em tournaments, named the Falcon, Nemesis, Eclipse and Tycoon. 

The Eclipse and the Falcon both have ₮1,000 buy-ins, while the Nemesis and Tycoon cost ₮5,000 to enter. The guarantees are ambitious, with plenty of potential for overlay. There are satellites priced at €50 and €250 for less well rolled players to take their shot at the nosebleeds.

Unibet Poker’s 10th Anniversary Series draws to a close this weekend, with three tiers of buy-ins for every event on the schedule. Despite overlays on the first weekend in all three tiers of the opening event, last weekend’s key events all fared much better with just a very small overlay posted in the €250 Supermoon. 

This Sunday’s main events are a more ambitious proposition when it comes to guarantees and provide more than a speculative likelihood of value for overlay hunters. The €100 Main event has a €40,000 guarantee and seems to be the most vulnerable of the remaining tournaments on the schedule.

The €100,000 10th Anniversary Phase tournament still has another week to run, with day two of the €10 buy-in event being held next Sunday on the 17th March, St Patrick’s Day. So far over 75% of the phase 1s have taken place, with 376 players having booked their place in Phase 2 already, contributing a total of €65,780 to the kitty. 

However with just over a week left and with three quarters of the phase 1s already completed there is still a shortfall of €34,220 to overcome. The pace may well pick up as the phase 2 day approaches, but as things stand, an overlay of €5,000-€10,000 looks probable.
