Things started badly almost immediately. After Negreanu asked what the standard raise was, he raised to $600 and got tangled in a 4-bet pre flop action including Airball, holding pocket 3's, and Brandon, AKo, the pot was already at $17,600.
Negreanu lost a $99,000 pot against Brandon Steven after defending 10♠9♠
against A♠K♥.
Negreanu had the best hand after flopping middle pair, but Steven continued applying pressure and caught a king on the river.
Not long afterwards, Negreanu tangled with Nik Airball holding A♦7♦.
The 44♦7♥6♦ flop gave Negreanu top pair and the nut flush draw. Airball called with K 3 before hitting a king on the turn.
The river paired the four without completing Negreanu’s flush. Airball bet $25,000 and Negreanu called, sending another significant pot across the table.
Then came the biggest early collision.
Jacks run into queens in a three way all-in
Randy “3Coin” Sadler limped pocket queens before Jellyfish raised the
button with 10♥9♣.
Negreanu found J♥J♣in the small blind and three bet to $11,500.
Both players called.
The flop came 9♦8♠3♠
Jellyfish had top pair. Negreanu held an overpair. 3Coin had both players beaten with pocket queens.
The action exploded and the money went in three ways.
Neither the turn nor river changed the result and 3Coin collected a pot of roughly $187,000.
Negreanu was left with a stack of around $43,000 and his night continued moving in the wrong direction.
Eventually he reached the confirmed low point of his session.
$162,000 down.
