The 55th Annual World Series of Poker Main Event is Down to 59 Players at the End of Day 6
By the end of the sixth day of the World Series of Poker Main Event the field had been reduced to just 59 hopefuls, who are now getting closer to the $10m first place prize.
Over one hundred players had their tournaments ended on Day 6, but now the attrition rate will slow down, as there are still four days of play left in the biggest Main Event in history.
Kevin Davis Holds the Main Event Chip Lead at the End of Day 6
By the time level 30 drew to a close and the final hands of the day had been played out, the overnight chip leader was confirmed as American Kevin Davis, who had amassed a stack of 26,250,000, over 2m ahead of Shundan Xiao on 23,925,000.
Malo Latinois sits in 3rd place wit 22,375,000 and Guillermo Sanchez Orto, the last remaining British player, is fourth with 21,975,000.

Eight Former Bracelet Winners Left in the Main Event
While the last of the former Main Event winners was eliminated on Day 5, there are still eight former WSOP bracelet winners left in the field. Canadian Jason James (15,825,000) has the largest stack of these eight, with four-time winner Kristen Foxen (14,500,000) just over 1m chips adrift.
Joe Serock (13,175,000) and six-time bracelet winner Brian Rast ((12,675,000) are also well placed to make deep runs in the remainder of the event.
The other remaining bracelet winners are all relatively short-stacked. Alex Keating (5,250,000) and Brandon Cantu (4,800,000) have half the average.
Stephen Song (2,175,000), who went into the day as the chip leader didn’t have a great day, but is still hanging on while Nick Jivkov (1,900,000) is the shortest of this group of players.
Busted On Day 6
Day six was the end of the line for many of the better known players left in the event. Tony Dunst, the WPT host and a three-time bracelet winner exited in 144th place, while GG Poker Ambassador Ren Lin busted in 116th.
Two-time bracelet winner Aleksejs Ponakovs from Latvia was eliminated in 120th. Danny Tang was one of the last players to depart near the end of the day, being sent to the rail in 62nd place.
It was also not a good day for British players, with only one of the eight who started the day surviving. Christopher Brammer (157th) was one of the first to go when play restarted and he was soon joined on the rail by Ho Lee (143rd) and Joseph Bold (134th)
Joe Hamilton (98th) and Iaron Lightbourne (99th) lasted a little longer, but when Ciaran McCullagh busted in 70th place, Guillermo Sanchez Orto was left as the last remaining British player in the field.
