Michael Mizrachi Wins 2025 WSOP Main Event, Inducted Into Poker Hall of Fame

Michael Mizrachi shipped the 2025 WSOP Main Event after defeating John Wasnock heads-up to claim $10 million. Mizrachi aka The Grinder also earned an immediate Poker Hall of Fame induction following his record-breaking final table performance and Poker Player Championship victory.
Michael Mizrachi Crowned 2025 WSOP Main Event Champion and Inducted Into Poker Hall of Fame
Michael Mizrachi has cemented his place among poker’s greatest after winning the 2025 WSOP Main Event and securing immediate induction into the Poker Hall of Fame. Known as “The Grinder,” Mizrachi defeated John Wasnock heads-up to claim the $10 million first-place prize.
Dominant Final Table Performance
The final day of play lasted just 20 hands, bringing the total to 79 for the entire final table—making it the fastest Main Event final in two decades. Mizrachi began the day as the massive chip leader with 445,500,000.
Kenny Hallaert was eliminated first when his ace-queen was outdrawn by Mizrachi’s king-jack. Braxton Dunaway followed shortly after, falling to Mizrachi’s ace-ten, which turned into a nut flush.
Heads-up play against Wasnock, a 50-year-old investment banker from Washington, started with Mizrachi holding a 491,000,000-to-93,500,000 chip lead.
Wasnock managed to win a few pots early, including catching Mizrachi bluffing with a pair of nines, but momentum swung back in Mizrachi’s favor when he rivered a straight against Wasnock’s kings.
The Final Hand
The championship hand occurred on the 79th hand. Wasnock moved all-in with two pairs, aces and nines, but Mizrachi revealed ten-three of clubs for a flush. The river blanked, securing Mizrachi the win.
“It was a crazy hand. I think, after all these days,” Mizrachi said. “I couldn’t even see the cards. I thought he had the ace of clubs, then I thought he was drawing dead.”
Immediate Hall of Fame Induction
Following the victory, WSOP VP Jack Effel inducted Mizrachi into the Poker Hall of Fame, bypassing the usual voting process. Poker legends Phil Hellmuth, Phil Ivey, and Brian Rast were among those present.
A Career Achievement for Michael Mizrachi
Mizrachi reflected on his career milestone, stating, “I feel like (the Main Event title) was cement. I cemented everything. That’s all I wanted was the Main Event. I did what I had to do in the poker world.”
The victory adds to Mizrachi’s already impressive record, which includes seven WSOP bracelets and four Poker Players Championship titles, solidifying his place among poker’s all-time greats.
