Annette Obrestad makes a stunning return to poker at the record-breaking WSOPE Main Event. After an eight-year hiatus spent on YouTube and competitive Scrabble, the 2007 champion bagged a seven-figure stack to advance into Day 4.

Annette Obrestad is back, and it appears as though she never truly left. On Day 3 of the record-breaking WSOPE Main Event, the poker world watched in awe as Obrestad navigated her first major tournament in eight years.

She thrilled the rail with the signature high-pressure moves that made her a household name during the original poker boom.

While Obrestad spent her recent years building a successful YouTube makeup channel and testing her intellect in competitive Scrabble, her return to the felt proves her instincts remain sharp. As Day 3 progressed, the central narrative focused on one thing: exactly how deep could the former prodigy go?

Adapting to a New Era of Aggression

By the dinner break, Obrestad found herself in a testing position with just 24 big blinds and two grueling levels of play remaining.

During the interval, Jeff Platt asked the question on every fan's mind: has the game evolved beyond recognition since her last major appearance?

Obrestad remained unfazed. She noted that while she has observed more aggression, creative lines, and a significant increase in 3-betting and 4-betting frequencies, the fundamentals remain the same. "At the end of the day it’s still poker," she remarked, "and I feel like I can hang with them."

Securing the Seven-Figure Bag

Obrestad arrived prepared to manifest success. Decked out in gold rings, gold nails, gold earrings, and gold-framed sunglasses, she looked every bit the champion. As the field narrowed to double digits for the first time during the final level, her stack began to grow.

By the time the chips were bagged for Day 4, only 85 players remained from the massive field. Significantly, only two women are left in the hunt for the title, and both are heavy hitters with historic resumes.

Both players have already etched their names into WSOP history. Now, the poker world watches to see
if either can claim the top prize in the largest WSOPE Main Event ever staged.

For Obrestad, a win would be a poetic bookend to a career that started with a historic victory nearly two decades ago.
