  • WPT Prime Cyprus Championship postponed due to Middle East tensions.

  • WPT aims to reschedule event once conditions stabilize, working with local partners.
WPT Prime Cyprus 2026
The World Poker Tour (WPT) announced yesterday the official postponement of the highly anticipated WPT Prime Cyprus Championship. Originally scheduled to run from March 5–9, 2026, at the Chamada Prestige Hotel & Spa, the $1,100 buy-in event has been shelved indefinitely following an assessment of escalating military tensions in the Middle East.

A Developing Story

According to a statement released by WPT officials, the decision was made out of an abundance of caution for players, staff, and international travelers. While Cyprus remains outside the direct conflict zone, its proximity to regional flashpoints has created significant logistical hurdles, particularly for U.S.-based staff and international qualifiers.

WPT stated:

The safety of our players and team members is always our top priority.

While the WPT-branded Championship is off the schedule for now, the tour confirmed it is working closely with local partners to find a suitable window to reschedule the event once the regional situation stabilizes.
