WSOP Super Circuit Canada Opens With Record CA$10M Main Event Ahead

The first WSOP Super Circuit Canada is officially underway, putting Playground at the center of the Canadian live poker calendar for the next two weeks.
The WSOP Circuit series began on August 26 in Kahnawake, Quebec, and runs through September 12, with 18 ring events and more than CA$14 million in advertised guarantees. Most of that figure comes from one tournament: the CA$5,000 Main Event, which carries a CA$10 million guarantee, the largest guarantee attached to a live poker tournament in Canada.
The opening Super Circuit Kickoff has already reached its second and final day, while the CA$500 Mini Main Event is now taking over the early schedule before the bigger championship events arrive next week.

CA$10 Million Main Event Leads the Schedule
Everything on the schedule ultimately builds toward Event #7, the CA$5,000 Super Circuit Main Event.
Starting flights begin on September 3, with additional flights and continuation days running through the following weekend. Playground lists the tournament as running through September 10.
The CA$10 million guarantee represents a substantial step up from previous WSOP Circuit events at the venue.
When the regular WSOP Circuit visited Playground in May, its CA$2,500 Main Event attracted 1,022 entries and generated CA$1,972,201. Canadian Daniel Ghionoiu won that tournament for CA$370,001.
Go back to August 2025 and Playground produced an even bigger benchmark. That Main Event recorded 1,978 entries and a CA$4,450,500 prize pool, at the time the largest prize pool in WSOP Circuit history. Canadian Jacob Hobday won CA$620,000 after originally qualifying through a CA$75 GGPoker satellite.
This time, the guarantee alone is more than twice the size of that record 2025 prize pool.
Main Event, GGMillion$ and Other Events to Watch
The Main Event is the obvious centerpiece, but several tournaments carry six- and seven-figure guarantees of their own.

The CA$2,300 Canada Circuit Championship arrives immediately before the Main Event and has CA$500,000 guaranteed, while the CA$14,000 GGMillion$ High Roller carries another CA$1 million guarantee later in the festival.
The schedule also has room for PLO, bounty tournaments and lower buy-in NLH events. A CA$1,500 Monster Stack PLO runs September 1, followed by a CA$1,000 Progressive Bounty on September 2. Later events include the CA$600 Ultra Stack, CA$1,500 Monster Stack and CA$1,500 Closer Turbo Bounty.
Where the Series Stands After the Opening Days
Event #1, the CA$500 Super Circuit Kickoff, began with two starting flights on August 26 before returning for Day 2 on August 27. The tournament carried a CA$150,000 guarantee.
Attention has already moved to Event #2, the CA$500 Mini Main Event.
The first two flights ran on August 27, with Flights C and D scheduled for August 28. A fifth and final starting flight follows on August 29 before the survivors return for Day 2 on August 30. The Mini Main comes with a CA$500,000 guarantee and 40,000-chip starting stacks.
The CA$1,000 Mystery Bounty then joins the schedule tomorrow, on August 29, meaning the pace will pick up considerably before the Canada Circuit Championship begins on August 31.
And that is still only the lead-in. The largest tournament of the stop does not deal its first hand until September 3.
