WSOP Super Circuit Cyprus 2026 has been cancelled, with organizers pointing to “ongoing uncertainties in the region” and player safety as the main reasons the spring festival will not go ahead. The series was due to run from April 25 to May 11, 2026, at a major resort in Cyprus.
In an announcement on social media, WSOP said the decision was difficult but necessary, stressing that the safety of players, staff, and partners “is always our top priority.” The statement thanked the poker community for its support and added that WSOP hopes to return to Cyprus or the wider region “in the future when conditions allow.”
The cancellation does not happen in isolation. Earlier this month, the World Poker Tour postponed the WPT Prime Cyprus Championship, a $1,100, $1 million guaranteed event at Chamada Prestige Hotel & Spa, directly citing the war involving Iran and increased risk around flying staff and players into the country.
The knock-on effects of the same conflict have also reached other parts of the poker calendar. A mixed-games festival hosted by a well-known Israeli poker personality in Las Vegas was cancelled after its organizer could no longer travel due to regional security concerns and restrictions.
Cyprus itself has been flagged more broadly as a destination feeling the impact of the Iran war and wider Eastern Mediterranean tensions, with travel advisories urging extra caution or recommending that some visitors reconsider plans.
Could More Live Poker Events in Cyprus Be Affected?
Merit Poker’s 2026 schedule in Northern Cyprus, which includes multiple festivals across the first half of the year, is being promoted with the usual “subject to change” language.
Organizers have not announced any alterations yet, but like all operators in the region, they are watching the security situation closely.
Other international tours with Cyprus stops later in 2026 have also not made public changes but may face pressure if travel warnings escalate or if airlines adjust routes and capacity into the island.
At this point, there is no confirmation that additional poker festivals in Cyprus will be cancelled. However, with both WPT Prime Cyprus postponed and WSOP Super Circuit Cyprus now fully cancelled, players with upcoming plans for the island have more reason than usual to monitor official updates, travel advisories, and operator announcements before booking or flying.
What Players Should Do Next
For players who had already made plans for WSOP Super Circuit Cyprus:
Check official WSOP channels and the host venue for refund and reservation information.
Review airline and hotel policies around cancellations or rebooking linked to regional instability.
Keep an eye on updates from other organizers in Cyprus, including Merit Poker and any incoming WPT or WSOP-branded events, in case the situation changes again.
With the region’s largest brands already adjusting their spring schedules, Cyprus remains one of the key live poker destinations to watch as the 2026 season unfolds.
