The legendary "craic" is officially going global. In a move that stunned the RDS during Level 8 of the 2026 Main Event, organizers of the award-winning Irish Poker Open unveiled a bold international roadmap that will see the world’s oldest No Limit Hold’em festival outside of Las Vegas debut in Australia, Marrakech, and the United States across 2026 and 2027.

Breaking Borders: Three New Global Stops

Building on a record-breaking 2025 that saw players from over 80 nations descend on Dublin, the festival is taking its unique brand of "craic" and high-stakes competition to three of the world’s most exciting poker destinations.

Exporting the "Craic Den"

For the uninitiated, the Irish Open is defined by a single word: Craic.
While the festival has collected numerous industry awards for its professional structure and logistical excellence, its soul resides in the Craic Den.

This player lounge is the "beating heart" of off-the-felt activity, featuring a nightly roster of live music, contests, and social games.

The Irish Open is widely recognised as one of the best-run festivals in the world,
 said co-owner Paul O’Reilly.

"But equally important is the unique atmosphere, the friendliness, warmth, and fun which is the hallmark of Irish hospitality. I know that, for many players, the off-the-felt fun in the Craic Den is the reason they keep coming back. We’re very excited that we can now introduce that experience to new audiences."

From Vegas to Dublin and Back Again

There is a poetic irony in the Irish Open landing on American shores in 2027. The tournament was founded in 1980 by Terry Rogers after a legendary meeting with Benny Binion in Las Vegas.

"The game itself came from America... so being ‘international’ is in our DNA," O'Reilly added. "We are also passionate about innovation, so exporting the brand is a very logical next step."

The Road to 2030: The World’s Biggest Tournament?

The international festivals in Sydney and Marrakech are not merely satellite events; they are full-scale festivals designed to stand alone while bolstering the flagship Dublin event.
According to co-owner JP McCann, the strategy involves a mix of standalone international trophies and global "Day 1s" that will feed directly into the Dublin Main Event.

The roadmap leads directly to the festival's 50th anniversary in 2030.
"Paul and I took over this event over 10 years ago, and from day one the vision was clear—grow the Irish Open and take it global," McCann stated. "

Ultimately, our ambition is simple: to make the Irish Poker Open the biggest tournament in the world by its 50th anniversary.

"The Story Continues"

The teaser revealed on Friday is just the opening act of a comprehensive documentary slated for release shortly after the conclusion of this year’s Dublin festival.

The film aims to chronicle the transition of the Irish Open from a local treasure to a global powerhouse.
For those currently grinding in Dublin, the message is clear: the luck of the Irish is no longer confined to the Emerald Isle. Whether you're in the Outback or the Atlas Mountains, the Craic is coming for you.
